Guided Stargazing Under the New Moon at Lazy Z Ranch
Friday, September 11 at 8pm
Join us at Lazy Z Ranch for a special night of stargazing under the new moon as we celebrate the end of summer. After the hustle of the summer, September is the perfect time to pause, look up, and reset for the coming autumn season.
This evening will be led by local naturalist and educator Liz Thaete, who is one of the Lead Guides at Starshine and Lazy Z Ranch resident.. You’ll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon’s night sky while locating constellations and listening to an ancient story about the stars. You are invited to stay after the one hour night sky tour to view deep sky objects through a telescope.
If weather doesn't permit us to stargaze on September 11th, our contingency date is October 2 at 7:30PM.
6:00 PM – Enjoy music in the Tasting Room by Hana Fleur as you sip a beverage and eat small plates.
6:30 PM – Watch the sunset & meet your guide, Liz, in the tasting room
7:30 PM – Check-in with Liz in the tasting room + find your spot on the lawn
8:00-9:00 PM – Guided stargazing experience under the high desert sky
9:00-9:30PM – Get a glimpse of the deep sky through a telescope
Sip your favorite Ranch beverage, enjoy a small bite, and marvel at the vastness above Lazy Z Ranch! A quiet, awe-filled night rooted in land, season, and sky. We’d love to share it with you.
Stargazing Tickets : (food/drink purchased separately in person)
$25/adult
$15/Kid ages 0-15; must be accompanied by an adult
You'll pay a nonrefundable booking fee of $5/person to reserve a spot.
Then you'll pay the remaining balance in person.

✨ Starshine will provide :
• Skymaps for guests to take home
• Red lights and binoculars to borrow
What to bring :
• A blanket or low chair for lounging on the lawn
• Weather-appropriate layers for a cool desert night
Optional, but encouraged :
• If you have your own binoculars you are welcome to bring them
• Headlamp with red light setting – this can help you to navigate the garden and view your star map
• A sky viewing app on your phone, recommended is SkyView Lite–its free!

Please download and fill out the liability waiver linked here. You can print and bring with you, or email to jennie@starshine-theater.com. Printed waivers will also be available to sign at the tour check-in.
Booking fee is not refundable, even if a private tour cancels due to weather.
If a tour cancels for a reason other than weather or civic mandates, your booking fee will be refunded in full.
If booking is cancelled 30 days or more in advance, your booking fee will be refunded.
Cancellations within 30 days, will not receive a refund.️
